How does it work?
IMPORTANT - An Evaporative Air Cooler is NOT an Air Conditioner or Mist Fan.
eac_how_does_it_work

Think back to the cool, fresh breeze that wafts in from the ocean. That’s evaporative cooling.

Our Air Coolers use the same process to cool your home. By running hot air through a moist cooling pad, the Air Cooler lowers the temperature of the air. It then blows this fresh, cool air out to you via a fan.

An Evaporative Air Cooler is NOT an Air Conditioner
Not sure about the difference between an Evaporative Air Cooler and an Air Conditioner? Here’s a quick lowdown on how to make the right decision.

Evaporative Air Cooler
Air Conditioner
COVID-19 safety
Recommended by CDC as a safer cooling alternative since EACs ventilate, humidify, and filter the air.
Accelerates the spread of the virus by circulating stale air in a closed environment.
Usage
Indoor and Outdoor.
Indoor only.
Cooling efficiency
Moderate-high. Reduces temperature by up to 15°F.
High. Reduces temperature by up to 25°F
Suitable climate
Effective in dry, arid weather (humidity less than 60%).
Good for humid weather (humidity more than 60%).
Cooling mechanism
Cools air through the natural process of water evaporation.
Uses refrigerant gas to cool air through a compressor.
Energy consumption
Low. 280 watts to cool a large room.
High. 740 watts to cool a large room.
Purchase cost
Average starting cost is $100 (approx).
Average starting cost is $300 (approx).
Sustainability
High. Eco-friendly biodegradable materials and low energy consumption.
Low. Carbon emissions and CFCs/HFCs harm the ozone layer contributing to global warming.
Humidification
Yes. Acts as a humidifier.
No. Removes moisture and dries out the air.
Ventilation
Excellent. Pulls in fresh air from outside.
Poor. Re-circulates cool but stale air from inside the room.

FAQs
1.
How often would I need to refill my air cooler?
It depends on the duration of use and speed of the fan. For example, using your evaporative air cooler all day at higher fan speeds would use a lot more which would mean refilling the tank more often.
2.
How can I improve the cooling effect of my air cooler?
You can boost cooling by adding ice into the dedicated ice compartment (if available). Ensure that there is adequate cross-ventilation to keep humid air circulating and the cooler working efficiently.
3.
I get hard water in my tap water supply. Is that okay to use?
Yes. We suggest draining and refilling the water tank regularly with fresh water each week to ensure your air cooler stays clean and provides an ideal cooling experience.
