Honeywell Evaporative Air Coolers: Powerful, Portable & Energy Efficient

With rising energy bills and increasing climate concerns, efficient, affordable cooling is more important than ever. Whether looking to keep cool at home or stay comfortable at an outdoor restaurant, evaporative cooling is an excellent option for hot, dry areas like the American Southwest and Midwest. Honeywell Evaporative Air Coolers (or Swamp Coolers) provide refreshing relief through the power of water evaporation, with many reliable models to choose from for your indoor or outdoor use.

About Evaporative Air Coolers

Much like a breeze flowing across a lake, Honeywell Evaporative Air Coolers produce a comfortable, cool breeze by using the natural process of evaporation to lower the temperature of the air around you.

When warm air is drawn into an evaporative cooler, it passes through a wet honeycomb cooling media. Water flowing over the media absorbs heat from the air, causing the water to evaporate and leaving you with cooler, moisturized air.

How is Evaporative Cooling Different from Other Cooling Methods?

An air cooler is not “just a fan”

  • Fans use blades to create a breeze by circulating room air.
  • They produce a short airflow.
  • They primarily recirculate air, though they can renew air with an open window. The fresh air won’t be cooled down.

  • Evaporative coolers use water evaporation to cool incoming hot air and a fan to expel cooled air.
  • They produce a long, strong airflow.
  • Together with cross-ventilation, evaporative cooling creates a refreshing breeze and helps renew stale air.

An air cooler is not an air conditioner

  • Evaporative coolers are not air conditioners as they do not use a power-hungry compressor or refrigerant gas.
  • Air conditioners consume significantly more energy than air coolers and are more expensive to purchase due to their complex designs.

An Air cooler is not a mist fan

  • Mist fans, which are mainly for outdoor use, blow out air while spraying a fine mist of water droplets, which can form puddles on furniture and on the ground.
  • Because the air exiting evaporative coolers contains water vapor instead of water droplets, they are suitable for indoors and outdoors.

Using an Evaporative Air Cooler

Evaporative coolers produce a more noticeable temperature decrease in areas where the maximum relative humidity level is below 60%. The resulting temperature will be lower in drier climates because higher evaporation occurs when humidity is low.* For those living in more humid climates, consider Honeywell Portable Air Conditioners.

The maximum cooling effect is felt when you are positioned near the flow of air coming out of the air cooler.

When using indoors, always ensure that there is adequate cross-ventilation in your room by opening a window or door. If you would like to use your air cooler for humidification, windows and doors should be closed.
